Last December, just a couple of days before Christmas, I got a present from me to myself:
A newly built, custom-made bandoneon.
This had been a dream of mine for many years, and finally, I decided it was time to have a second partner to my old 1940´s instrument.
I´ve had it for 20 years and have been playing exclusively on it, so, as you can probably imagine, it takes time to get used to it.
The new model has a few technical differences from the older one, which I´m not going to explain in detail (since it´s probably only relevant to instrument freaks like myself) but I will say this: it´s a gorgeous instrument, in every sense.
Its velvety sound is capable of expressing just what I have in my mind and heart with the exact amount of intensity and nuance. It´s incredible.
Its beautiful brown exterior case is adorned with mother-of-pearl details and an intense red in its bellows.
